The purpose of Israel's time in the wilderness wasn't punishment, but to teach them about God. Wilderness experiences are always unpleasant, but they are also when we are closest to the presence of God. The Bible repeatedly says God causes much suffering, but he only does so in order to bring about greater blessing.

Leviticus 23:1 —2, “ The Lord said to Moses, “Tell the people of Israel: ‘You will announce the Lord’s appointed feasts as holy meetings. These are my special feasts.” Paul would write the oracles of God were entrusted to the Jews, in other words the words of our Creator were trusted for the Tribe of Judah to preserve them. Our creator retains the ownership of His appointed times.
The nations that gather around the Beloved City to destroy the saints, are they war ready armies or are they just a hoard with farming tools pulling up?
This thought came to me after thinking on the following two verses:
Isaiah 2:4: And He will judge between the nations,
And will mediate for many peoples;
And they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not lift up the sword against nation,
And never again will they learn war.
Micah 4:3: And He will judge between many peoples
And render decisions for strong and distant nations.
Then they shall hammer their swords into plowshares
And their spears into pruning hooks [so that the implements of war may become the tools of agriculture];
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Nor shall they ever again train for war.
Am I correct in thinking that these two verses are referring to the Millennial reign and the attack in Rev. 20 takes place after the time that these two verses refer to?
