Israel had been in the wilderness for a month before God sent the manna. It truly was a test of their faith. Sometimes God makes us wait so that we will learn to trust Him. #exodus 16:1-4 #beshalach
God also didn't take Israel by the quickest or easiest route. Instead, he took them where they needed to go. This is an example for husbands, fathers, and all leaders. Sometimes the journey exists to prepare us for the destination. #leadership

Hilkiah the priest, et al, went to Huldah the prophetess in Jerusalem...
2 Kings 22:14
The office of Prophet carries the authority of a message from God, but no formal place in the Kingdom's hierarchy. The existence of female prophets has no bearing on God's preference for men in positions of formal authority.
Why did they go to Huldah instead of Jeremiah or Zephaniah? Jeremiah was also a priest and possibly Hilkiah's son. I would think he would be a better choice. Maybe Hilkiah didn't respect his own son enough? Maybe Huldah was older and had a better reputation at the time. Maybe Jeremiah was a troublemaker, while Huldah's husband was a respected member of the royal court. We can only speculate.
Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives? For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of marriage. Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.
Romans 7:1-3 ESV
Related passages from the Old Testament (re the High Priest and levirate marriage) as well as the Greek word for a woman "which has a husband" (KJV) in Romans 7:2 shed significant light on Paul's meaning in this passage. Here's a hint: It does not say that the Law dies or that the commandments in the Law are not for all Christians today. It's about authority relationships, not the applicability of Torah.

Amazing things start to happen when people actually believe God will do what He says and take action on that belief. We step out in faith that God will heal us, provide financial and other resources, and guide our paths in life. Why, then, do we have trouble believing God will restore all of Israel’s Lost Tribes as He has promised?
Margot Crossing and Richard Hewitt have learned to believe God’s promises to regather and restore all Israel. That’s why they have been working for many years among people groups in Asia who know their connection to ancient Israel, and why they are shepherding the establishment of an institute to dedicate serious academic attention to this subject. They just took a major step by participating in the Interconnectivity of Ancient Israel in Asia Symposium in Aizawl, India, in November 2023. In this three-part interview, we hear about the symposium, and about the contributions to it by scholars from Japan, Korea, India, and other nations.
Why is God working to restore all of Israel’s tribes just as He has restored the Jewish remnant of Israel? Because this is the way He will glorify His Name throughout the earth. He’s in the process not only of regathering Israel, but also building His people into the righteous nation He has always intended. We hear something about that in, “Like A Tree,” the latest midrash from Barry Phillips and David Jones. Righteousness is also the inspiration for our musical guests, the Aleph Tav Band, and Dylan White.

Lily Portion for Today: Tuesday January 23
Remember, it is through faith among siblings that the moral elements of the family are upheld, and it is faith in Elohiym which binds family units to His Throne. (Prayer: Father, make my family Your faithful instruments. Uphold them through the power of Moshiach, our Redeemer, to keep serving You with dedication, amein)

Do we have to be pushed to the point of bankruptcy or death to "show" our faith and only then will Father save us? I can see that in David's life and more so in Job, but then again, are those extreme examples the norm? Job was the only person ever to be recorded to go through what he did. David was a king in a very broken nation.
Why couldn't Peter just keep walking on the water with Yeshua next to him?
