The honey and oil isn't limited to direct temptations, but to any words or behavior that might lead you to trust an untrustworthy person.
Consider the story of Samson and Delilah. There is no way that a man like Samson would have given his secret to a woman like Delilah if she had not thoroughly convinced him that it was in his best interests, but how can that be possible given the little we know from the story? Clearly much of the honey and oil detail is left out of the story.
Well, it is under 2 hours till sunset here in Leeds, so I am clocking off till after Shabbat so that I can prepare the meals.

Lily Portion for Today: Friday December 08
Ladies, if prayer does not drive away sin in your family’s lives, then sin will drive away your family prayers. (Abba, teach my family to listen in such a manner that we shall be able to echo the words of Samuel: Speak, Your servants are listening! Thank You that Yeshua has made it possible for us, amein)
Matthew 7:14, “But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.” What is preventing you from finding that narrow gate? Isaiah had this to write — Isaiah 35:8, “And there will be a highway called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not travel it--only those who walk in the Way--and fools will not stray onto it.”
CHICKEN CHOW MEIN
This dish is a family favourite, but not something we can buy as restaurants normally use oyster cause in their recipes. We therefore make it at home and I believe I have finally found a good substitute for us.
Serves 4
Ingredients:
1 x bag of dried egg noodle
300g of diced chicken
1 x green pepper - chopped
2 x spring onions - chopped
10 x medium mushrooms - chopped
1 x cup of bean sprouts
2 Tbs Teriyaki sauce
2 Tbs Hoisin sauce
1 x tsp ground ginger
1 x Tbs white vinegar
3 x Tbs dark soy sauce
2 x Tbs sesame oil
6 x Tbs peanut oil
Method:
1. Boil adequate water for the egg noodles, cook them until 'al dente' following the package instructions, ensuring a slightly chewy texture.
2. Drain the noodles, rinse under cold water until cool, then toss with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.
3. Heat peanut oil in the wok.
4. Sauté mushrooms until nearly cooked.
5. Introduce chicken and ginger to the mushrooms, cook until chicken is almost done.
6. Add white vinegar, dark soy, Teriyaki, and Hoisin sauce to the wok. Stir for a minute to blend.
7. Incorporate green pepper, spring onions, and bean sprouts to the wok, stir until the vegetables are slightly blanched.
8. Add noodles and the remaining tablespoon of sesame oil to the wok.
9. Stir and fry until all the sauce is absorbed.
10. Serve hot and enjoy!

Overcome A Feeling Of Rejection

Adonai, Your Son Yeshua, is my High Priest. He understands and sympathises with my weaknesses and this excruciating pain of rejection. In his Name I approach Your Throne of Grace with confidence so that I may receive mercy and find grace to help me in my time of need. I ask You to forgive my sins and I receive Your mercy. I. expect your healing grace to dispel the rejection I am suffering because of false accusations and the demeaning action of another. Abba, Yeshua was despite and rejected -- a Man of Sorrows acquainted with bitterest grief. The grief of ………. turning against me and treating me as an outcast of consuming me, just as my rejection consumed Your Son, Who freely gave His life for me. Forgive me for turning my back on Yeshua and looking the other way. He was despised and I didn’t care. Yet it was my grief He bore; my sorrows that weighed Him down. He was wounded and bruised for my sins. He was beaten that I may have peace. He was lashed and with His stripes I was healed. In the face of rejection, I will declare: “The Adonai is my Light and my Salvation -- whom shall I fear or dread? The Adonai is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life -- of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1 {AMP}). I know right from wrong and I cherish Your Laws in my heart; I won’t be afraid of people’s scorn or their slanderous talk. Slanderous talk is temporal and fades away. Your Word will never pass away. Abba, I choose to look at the things that are eternal: Your Justice and Mercy shall last forever, and Your Salvation from generation to generation. Your eyes are upon me, for I have right standing with You, and your ears are attentive to my prayer. You spoke to me and asked “now how who is going to hurt you if you are a zealous follower of that which is good?” In my heart I set Moshiach apart as Holy and I acknowledge Him as Adonai. I am always ready to give a logical defence to anyone who asks me to account for the hope that is in me, but I do it courteously and respectfully. I purpose to see to it that my conscience is entirely clear so that when I am falsely accused as an evil doer, those who threaten me abusively and revile my right behaviour in Moshiach may come to be ashamed of the slandering of my good life. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though the going is rough for a while. These trials are only to test my faith, to see whether it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests gold and purifies it -- and my faith is far more precious to you. Adonai then mere gold; so, if my faith remains strong after being tried in the test tube of fiery trials, it will bring me much praise and glory and honour on the day of Yeshua’ return. In spite of the rejection I have experienced, I declare that everything you say about me in Your Word is true.
