In an eggplant shape of sticky colourless mesh where the head would be, there swarmed thousands of small entities, obscured partly by the complexities of their brief forms.
The rest of the body was wrapped in slats of jagged armadillo-style shell. This strode under the dome, stooping to let down tendril-like tongues from various mouths between the tighter and more numerous slats of its face. The tongues it used to smell by feel, pattering on triangular succulent dinosaur plants.
