I saw an X (Twitter) quote from someone recently that gave a list of statements and said they were all equal to Satan saying "Did God really say...".

There were two items in particular on that list I disagree with. This comic is covering one of those: "Elevate Jesus' words over Paul's".

To say that Jesus' words are above Paul's words is the same as Satan questioning God's words just blows my mind. One is the son of God, or God Himself, or however else you view Him. The other is just a man. Inspired or not, he was just a man.

I've pointed out in other comics that there is never a "And God said..." statement in Paul's letters. The only time we do have a direct quote is from Jesus during Paul's encounter on the road to Damascus. Or in instances like 1 Corinthians 7:10, where he gives a summary of Matthew 5:32. A couple of verses down in 1 Corinthians 7:12, Paul even states that he is giving *HIS* opinion, not God's. Paul wasn't giving any new revelation, just his observation based on current Scripture.

Then we have letters of his like Philemon that are literally just that: a letter. While his other letters are just letters as well, they include some type of teaching in them. Philemon is just him writing a letter to someone and asking a favor. If this was something God told Paul to write, wouldn't it be more like: Hey Philemon, God said for you to take Onesimus back in as a brother and I'll pay any of his debts. Lovingly in Christ, Paul.

Instead he is writing a plea, just as anyone else would do in that situation to another. I point this out as for too long in the church we are taught that every word in the Bible is directly from God and should be treated as such.

I use Billy Graham as the example in the comic as when growing up, he was the person that when someone was talking about a famous Christian, everyone knew. What if 2,000 years from now, someone decided to add one of Billy's books to the Bible, should those be thought of as God's words?

Paul was a teacher. Yes, his words are valuable, but they also have their place. Paul was not God nor ever claimed he was speaking on the account of God.

Lily Portion for Today: Monday January 22

Mother, let your children grow up in the knowledge of our Adonai. Teach them that sometimes YHVH allows them to go through deep water because He know that your enemies cannot swim and when He give them nuts, it is their responsibility to crack them open. (Prayer: Father, I trust in You to give my children wisdom and guidance to conquer all circumstances and not allow them to become despondent, amein)

Thought for Today: Monday January 22

Sometimes, in the smallest details of our day, YHVH reveals the greatest depths of His love - in ways only His heart and ours understand.

Father, in the Name of Yeshua, forgive the us for disregarding the sanctity of life. We recognise that each person is uniquely created by You, Adonai – marvellously made! You know each one inside and out; You know every bone in the body. You know exactly how we are made, bit by bit, and how we are sculpted from nothing into something. All the stages of a life are spread out before You, and the days are prepared before a child even lives one day. Since we now see clearly, we value the life we give. Father, each of us is an open book to You; even from a distance, You know what we are thinking. We are never out of Your sight. When we look back, we realize that You were there. You were present when we put to death the foetus/foetuses to whom You gave life. Adonai, we repent of our sin and the sin of those who commit this crime. Be merciful unto us, O Adonai. We ask forgiveness, and You are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all righteousness. Unless Your Law had been our delight, we would have perished in our afflictions. We will never forget Your precepts, for it is by them You have quickened us and granted us life. We are ready to halt and fall; our pain and sorrow are continually before us. For we do confess our guilt and iniquity; we are filled with sorrow for our sin. Instead of further rebuke, we now desire rather to turn and be forgiven and comforted by excessive sorrow and despair. We look to Yeshua as our Saviour and Consolation and welcome His Peace and completeness to our souls. We cannot bring our baby/babies back again; we shall go to them; they will not return to us. We are awaiting and looking for the blessed hope, even the glorious appearing of our great YHVH and Saviour, Yeshua Moshiach, Anointed One. In His Name and through His Blood we pray, amein.

SHALOM!

Here is your question for Yom Sheny found in today's Torah portion in Shemoth 14:9-14:

How did the children of Yisrael react when they saw Pharaoh drawing near?

Yochanan Ben Yisrael
16 B’shallach – Day 2
Sh’moth 14:9-14
And the Mitsrites pursued them, and all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen and his army, and overtook them camping by the sea beside Pi Haḥiroth, before Ba‛al Tsephon.
And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Yisra’ěl lifted their eyes and saw the Mitsrites coming up after them. And they were greatly afraid, so the children of Yisra’ěl cried out to YHWH.
And they said to Mosheh, “Did you take us away to die in the wilderness because there are no burial-sites in Mitsrayim? What is this you have done to us, to bring us up out of Mitsrayim?
“Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Mitsrayim, saying, ‘Leave us alone and let us serve the Mitsrites?’ For it would have been better for us to serve the Mitsrites than to die in the wilderness.”
And Mosheh said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the deliverance of YHWH, which He does for you today. For the Mitsrites whom you see today, you are never, never to see again.
“YHWH does fight for you, and you keep silent.”
