When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob's hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.
Genesis 32:25

The hip or thigh (Hebrew: yarek) is connected to the making and breaking of covenants (Genesis 24:2-9, 47:29; Numbers 5:27) and the making and breaking of pride (Judges 15:8, Psalm 45:3, Jeremiah 31:19)

Perhaps the wounding of Jacob's hip was the end of his pride and the start of his real power in Abraham's covenant with God.

What's the significance of the sun rising on Jacob's wrestling match in Genesis 32? The dawn of a new day could symbolize...

1) The start of a time for action as opposed to reflection.
2) Enlightenment and the end of inner darkness
3) Jacob's rising power and authority.
4) The inauguration of Israel as an ethnically distinct people, separate from the other descendants of Terah.

What do you think?

Better is open rebuke than hidden love.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend.
Profuse are the kisses of an enemy.
Proverbs 27:5-6 ESV

Hidden love refers to affection that doesn't lead to any good deeds. A rebuke might not be nice, but it might be helpful. Good wishes with no action are worthless, like faith without works. A friend may hurt you when it is necessary in order to help you. Beware of people who encourage you down a destructive path. They are your enemies, whatever they might believe.

After two thousand years of misunderstanding and conflict, what hope do we have that Christians and Jews can find common ground and build relationships based on mutual respect? There is much reason to hope, as David Nekrutman explains. Concerted efforts from both sides at building Christian-Jewish relations has resulted in a world-changing support for Israel among Christians worldwide. In this concluding part of our conversation, David offers ideas for how to build on this momentum.

Development of deep, genuine relations between Christians and Jews is a matter of the heart. In fact, it’s a matter of the heart change that God promises in the New (or Renewed) Covenant that He is making with Israel and those who attach themselves to Israel. That’s the point of “Tablets and Hearts,” the midrash presented by Barry Phillips and David Jones, and the music presented by the Aleph Tav Band and Jimmie Black.
