We have a lot to be thankful for. I'm particularly thankful that at this moment in time, America does not have to teach its children drills for rocket strikes.

This isn't addressed to the son or the wife, but to the father and husband. It is vital to your future happiness that you bring up children you can like and be proud of.

That's not an option for a wife. There's very little you can do to change the character of an adult and it's usually wiser and better for your relationship not to try. You're better off choosing a good wife to begin with. Get to know her mother and her family because that will tell you a lot about who she will become.

Ishmael was a predator. In itself, that's not all bad; God needs predators too, but only in limited roles. Most of God's people are sheep and that's a good thing. Some others will be shepherds or sheepdogs. Most predators are not citizens of the Kingdom, but I don't think we should assume that they can't be.
