Shabbat shalom, y'all! It seems I owe an apology to many. I have been testing calendars over the past decade, roughly. This year, specifically this week, I learned that I made a month-sized mistake in this year's calendar. I was going by the Abib reports coming from Israel to determine the beginning of the year. A month or so ago, maybe two months ago, I learned from a now former TTN member that the stars and moon tell when to harvest barley. I was greatly joyed at this news because it is too easy to manipulate barley in Israel. Plant early for an early Passover, plant late for a late Passover. Also, there is no agreement on where to seek abib barley, and there is no agreement as to one sheaf being enough for the whole nation, or, if each farmer needs to bring it for his household. The full moon rising in Virgo solves this. This is when Passover should take place. Star charts are easy to calculate, produce and distribute, so this is a reasonable global solution. You can know for many years when Passover is to take place. Also, 7 months later, the new moon will set in Virgo to mark trumpets/seventh month. This is what brings me to my apology. I realized this week, I had observed everything a month late, blindly greeting everyone with confident "happy x feast/day". So to all of you who knew, I am sorry. And to all of you who may have taken my word for it (oh! I hope not!), I am doubly sorry. For all of you still seeking the Scriptural calendar, I hope my mistake causes you to avoid one. So, this weekend is a double hitter...seventh day sabbath, followed by last day of sukkot (brrr!). Happy last day of Sukkot everyone! Thank you for not rubbing my high nose in it! Shalom!
