And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Mark 10:21
Whatever the faults of this rich man, Jesus saw him and loved him for his obedience and his desire to please God. The problem wasn't that he was rich, but that he might value his riches over his relationship with God.
At Sunday's gathering of several Messianic congregations in the Lwatama region, the testimonies from those who attended last month's Marriage Conference that I taught in Iganga were moving and precious. The transformation of their marriages breaks with Ugandan culture and comes in line with God's design. I am in awe of how the Lord is impacting these people with His Word. At the conclusion, over a dozen candidates for baptism came forward. I had the privilege of praying with them and over them before we left. We were unable to stay for the actual baptism, but it was such a blessing to have a part in it.
