When God hides His face, we are at the mercy of the elements and spirits of the world. God often uses nature as a blacksmith and forge to refine and shape us. Judgment is painful, but don't fear it. Fear God instead.
Isaiah 54
I accidentally installed a motion-detector flood light above our kitchen sink. Like an idiot I troubleshot the socket. The light has settings for brightness on it, so I fiddled with that, too. Then I realized the light was motion-detecting.
Then I consciously decided to let the family figure it out one by one.

New windows and doors and an overhaul paint job. The weather turned to cold rain today. I can't remember being happy to have my house rained on before. Our contractors did a fabulous job sealing up this house!
YHWH by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew.
Proverbs 3:19-20
Breaking up the depths and the formation of dew are opposite extremes in two ways: One is extremely violent and comes from beneath the earth. The other is so gentle that it gradually appears as if from nowhere, although it actually comes from the air. One brings death, while the other brings life. See 1 Samuel 2:6 and the words of Hannah: YHWH kills and brings to life. He brings down to Sheol and raises up.
If you are a father or mother of young children, or even a grandparent, I highly recommend you have your little ones watch this sermon. I made my son (10) watch it after he came down from his youth ministry lesson. My daughter (15) had watched it with the rest of the church.
