"Anyone with whom you find your gods shall not live. In the presence of our kinsmen point out what I have that is yours, and take it." Now Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.
Genesis 31:32
So Rachel died, and she was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem)...
Genesis 35:19
Was Rachel's untimely death in Genesis 35:19 a direct result of the rash curse that Jacob pronounced on the idol thief in Genesis 31:32? I suspect so. The words of a father and husband have real power in his family. Be careful what you say.
And God said to him, "I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations shall come from you, and kings shall come from your own body."
Genesis 35:11
In this verse, God repeated to Jacob the command to be fruitful and multiply. The command applies to all mankind, but it is doubly important for God's faithful remnant to be fruitful, both naturally and spiritually. The world needs good people. We can create them by saving the lost or by making babies. Best to do both!

The Bible reminds us often of how important children are. No less than fifteen times are we told to teach our children what they should know. David writes in Psalm 127:3, “Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward.” He is the one who gives them to us, He is the one who expects us to teach them to love Him. When we fail our children we fail our Creator as well.
Good morning, Abba!
Thank You for this new day filled with Your mercies.
Thank You for Your love so incomprehensible.
Thank You for Your Ruach Who fills & empowers us, giving us wisdom & the ability to love You in ways we cannot love You on our own.
Thank You for giving us the privilege of allowing Your love to flow through us toward others, for letting us be Your hands & feet doing acts of love & Your mouth speaking words of encouragement.
Thank You for the gift of Your Torah/teachings which contain Your commandments & statutes.
Thank You for the incredible gift Yeshua has given us that pays the price for our inability to walk in Your ways perfectly.
Thank You for providing the Way for us to be with You for all eternity in the new heaven & new earth to come.
Thank You for Yeshua Who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Thank You for writing Your laws upon our hearts so they are not merely words, but also living & active.
Thank You for showing us that obedience to Your commands is about loving You & loving others & not only about outward actions.
Thank You for showing us that law without love is tyranny & love without law is licentiousness.
Thank You for opening our eyes to some of the greater mysteries & deeper understandings that can only come from sitting in Your presence while studying & digging into Your Word.
Thank You for every breath & every minute of this day.
Maybe love You well.
May we serve You well.
With love,
Your child.
