Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for my fellow Jews is that they may be saved.
Romans 10:1

If eternal salvation is predetermined without input or influence from men, prayers for anyone’s salvation are useless. Clearly Paul didn’t believe the salvation of individual Jews to be unconditional, limited, and irresistible. He believed that it was possible for a reprobate to be regenerated.

Historians?!? What do we do with them?

I have been raised that only what is in Scripture is testament of what we should believe in as even #science gets #manipulated and the further back in history we go the more it is a guessing game.

This is very true as not all history has been documented in the Bible and most of what is written in the Bible is no longer evident. Sometimes we can take a guess as to the location of an event (think of the rock which was split when Moses hit it), but we don't know for sure and science and history will prove it false as an actual event.

Then we get historians, which in some instances we use as proof of our beliefs and in other cases, meh...

Currently I am really trying to look at history from a different perspective to get a better understanding of Scripture.

What I have come to learn is that history is always written by the winner and that all conquerors were good; well at least in how his-story tells it.

All wars have been won by the "good guys". What a marvel of history. ?

So what do we make of #historians that tell of history that is not mainstream? Do we blatantly ignore them or do we take heed of their tellings even if it goes against what the mainstream says?

As an example of this, I found a good summary of events around 66AD documented on https://biblicalblueprints.com..../Sermons/New%20Testa

Also, why do we believe that we have all the facts living 2000 years after an event? There are cases where people living now don't even know what certain commonly available implements were used for during the gold rush; which was just a few hundred years ago.

I have found scripture to be more reliable & accurate than most present day historians. The archaeologists have come to deny the plain truth because it doesnt fit darwinian timelines. Darwin himself said his theory of evolution was false if a sinflee cell was found to be complex.

Even the Rabbis use the NT as a source of history for the first century. I've read Josephus cover to cover. It's the only other reliable source. He colors it, though, being both a Levite and Roman, and having to preserve his own life, but he's the guy who Yahweh used to preserve a lot of info.

The desolation of first century Judea was prophesied by Daniel. Blessed are those who believe without seeing. However....

This article about an ancient ship that could somehow navigate open oceans is really interesting. Changes a lot. https://apnews.com/article/isr....ael-archaeology-anci

One of my daughters studies history in college. We met with the department head of Mizzou's history program a couple months ago on a tour. He specializes in ancient history. The books he had on the shelf are ones we all cite. Listening to him was like listening to a sermon, LOL! My daughter is transferring in as a Junior and is going to have a blast! They don't teach facts necessarily, but a system of research.

Something I heard often while growing up in church: "The Law is too difficult for anyone to do. This is why Christ came, to do it for us. It was there to show us we can't be righteous and we need a Savior."

I've covered some of these aspects in earlier CvB comics. Let's look specifically at the "The Law is too difficult."

If you go and read the Scripture I give in the second panel, you'll see the very first thing is from God saying the exact opposite. The Law is not to hard for us.

Why then did Israel fail so miserably at keeping it if it is so easy? It all comes down to a heart issue. Throughout Scripture, God states He wants our hearts. In the Prophets, when He wants Israel to turn back to Him, it is their heart He is after.

With that in mind, let's look at the man after God's own heart: David. In the Psalms, David writes about the Law in a very positive way. Calling it perfect, saying it makes the unlearned wise, saying those who walk in it are blessed, and much much more.

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible and it is a love song written about the Law.

Now, if it was something difficult to keep, why would David write such a thing?
If it was difficult to keep, why would God get angry in the Prophets at Israel for them not keeping it?

If you think the Law is too difficult for you to keep, I would like to know, which part? What commands specifically do you think are too difficult?

To be preemptive, I am talking about ones that you can do today. Commands that don't require a Temple, a God-appointed set of elders, a Levite, etc... But commands that relate to your every day life. What is too difficult?

The question was receintly asked, “Why don’t my prayers get answered now that I’ve stopped praying on the name of Jesus?”

A great question.

Many people believe there’s no power in the name of Jesus because we made it up.

And yet evil spirits flee in that name.
Healings happen in that name.
Miracles and mighty wonders.

Yet we know for a fact that’s not actually His Name?

So why do powerful things happen in this name and why does that power seem to disappear when we decide to stop calling Him by that fake name?

Maybe it’s another power feeding the deception all along?

Or maybe the power is in our belief rather than the name we claimed? Like a placebo.

Of that we can not speak because we can not know.

But what we do know is this…

Prayer never worked the way churchianity said it was supposed to. Sure we got what we wanted when we said the magic made up word “Jesus” but prayer isn’t supposed to get us stuff. We stop getting the magical answers when we stop treating the Most High like a genii. Prayer is intended to attune our will with His not to get us things. And we don’t mean tvs and cars and money. We mean praying for health and healing and wisdom and all the other good stuff we were taught to ask for in Christendom. True prayer is intended to bind us to the Almighty, bringing our concerns to Him to hand them over. Not “I need healing, etc.” but rather “here is my want of healing etc. Do with it as You will.”

…and He will.

We can have the magic if we want it but it’s all manufactured and vapid as the name we spoke to try to get it.

The Church may have taught us to show up with a list of wants and needs, but the Saviour didn’t teach us that pattern for prayer.

He taught us to show up confident to commune with our Creator. To call on His Name. To give Him all praise. And to trust Him to provide all things that we already know He already knows we need for living out the life He gave us.

Pray to put Him over all no matter what happens. And your prayers will be answered. Just dont expect the answers to be like they were in churchianity. They were never supposed to be.
