Psalm 147:1 — 2, “Hallelujah! How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and lovely to praise Him! The LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the exiles of Israel.” The idea of returning everyone who has accepted the God of Abraham is far from new. Not only will the tribe of Judah return but each family and all of those who have joined with them to worship the Creator.

Once a person has been educated (indoctrinated?) to understand a topic in a certain way, it can be very difficult for him to see it in any other, no matter how brilliant and sincere he might be otherwise. Sometimes an untrained, unsophisticated eye can see a truth that escapes the experts and the dogmatic non-experts.
Moses counted the Levites according to patriarchal clans like the rest of Israel, but only at the command of God. He had no authority to count them on his own.
