If God chooses one person to play the antagonist, the fault is already that person’s. God didn’t force him to sin. Pharaoh was chosen for his role because of the kind of man he was. There were thousands of other Egyptians (the same lump of clay) that God could have chosen for that role, but Pharaoh has no right to complain that God chose him instead of someone else, because Pharaoh was determined to play it anyway.

The word revival doesn’t show up in the English language until the fifteenth century and it wasn’t used for religious purposes for almost three hundred years. Prior to the use of revival, repentance and preparation were how we were to approach our Creator. Isaiah 55:6 — 7, “Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked man forsake his own way and the unrighteous man his own thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that He may have compassion, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.”

The wonder of our Saviour is that He is so accessible to us in the common things of our lives – the cup of water… breaking of the bread… welcoming children into our arms… fellowship over a meal… giving thanks. A simple attitude of caring, listening and lovingly telling the truth.
