1 Samuel 15:22, “But Samuel declared: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obedience to His voice? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, and attentiveness is better than the fat of rams.” Part of this verse is often used out of context. Some attempt to make obedience sound like legalism and others use it to justify James writing about works. But very few answer the question, why is obedience better?
There’s way too much of a mess out their for us to clean it up and far too many folks bathing in the chaos to want anything to change.
Therefore our duty is to aid where we can when the unsuspecting have fallen into the deep, to offer the tools for people who are traveling through the madness to pass over it in peace and to teach those wanting to know how to survive within it.
We don’t aim to save. We only aim to be available when needed…if wanted.

Thought for Today: Tuesday July 08
Remember, Elohiym looks at our contributions differently. Firstly, He knows that our giving is a measure of something far more important: The depth of our commitment to Yeshua Moshiach. And it is not just a question of how much effort or finances or help you give, but what our attitude is as we give. Do we give reluctantly or under compulsion – maybe to impress other people? If so, it strongly suggests that we love ourselves more than we love our Saviour. Don’t let this be true of you. When you give your time, support, tithings, etc., do it as if you do it only for YHVH Elohiym.

David Altman addresses that question in this four-part conversation. As he explains, this is a spiritual issue, and it is rooted in the sibling rivalries that have plagued Abraham's family from the start.
It takes courage to go against the majority regarding issues like antisemitism. That, too, is a spiritual issue, as we learn in the midrash by David Jones and Barry Phillips called "Stand Alone When Necessary." As Wilderness Cry explains in their musical offerings, it's really a matter of how connected we are to our Creator.
