The BIGGEST argument against keeping the Sabbath for the modern day Christian is "interpretation". I put it in quotes because we've come to the point that the Word can say something in black and white and there is someone out there that will take it to mean something totally different. I touched on that a little bit in the last T4C comic, but I want to dive a little deeper.

When I take part in discussions or listen to debates or anything where there are two opposing views on what the Scripture says on something, inevitably one of the parties will end the conversation with "well, that's your interpretation". Let's take the verse I am alluding to in the comic: Isaiah 56:6.

"Also the foreigners who join themselves to Yahweh to serve him, and to love Yahweh’s name, to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it, and holds fast my covenant" (WEB)

I've heard people from Church say that there is no where in the Bible that says Gentiles are supposed to keep the Sabbath. Who do you think the foreigners are in this passage? The word Gentile in Scripture refers to non-Israelites. Foreigners are those not from Israel. So, if the Sabbath is "just for the Jews", why are foreigners keeping it to serve and love God?

We've been taught to read the Bible in a certain way. A way that we can read something plain as day as the above verse and take no regard of it. Or even when presented a verse like the above have some "answer" for it.
- "Oh, that's old covenant." Even though this particular verse is part of the book that Jesus quoted to show he was bringing those prophecies about.
- "Well, we meet on 'The Lord's Day' now." Taking one instance in Acts and ignoring all the other instances in Acts where the apostles kept Sabbath.
- "Well, Colossians says not to judge about a Sabbath day." Disregarding the fact that Paul is talking about not letting the Gnostics judge you for KEEPING the Sabbath. He wasn't making a case to ignore or change it.

Go and read and when you hear a little voice in your head from former teachings telling you "oh, this means that", ignore it! Go and reread that part, plainly. If it says something that is different from what you have learned, study more! Pray about it! But don't just write it off as something its not.

The weekly #sabbath is a sign between God and Israel, whether natural born or grafted in, of our faithfulness and sanctification. It's one of the only commandments that can't be derived from natural law, and it's so important to God that deliberate violation carries the death penalty.

Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.
Proverbs 3:3

The meaning here is determined by that of the same terms in Genesis 24:27, in which Eliezer says that Abraham has not wavered in his loving kindness and faithfulness to Isaac. Once again in the context of the father-son relationship. Solomon is saying never to waver in honoring your parents, to cherish their instructions as if they themselves were your parents.

David summoned representatives of the priesthood, the prophets, and the royal guard to ensure that Solomon had the support of legitimate members of all the most important bodies of government in Israel. David named his successor, the legitimate high priest anointed him, and the general of Israel's armies ensured that the new king's position was secure.

God chooses rulers, but men must also choose them by acknowledging, supporting, submitting to them as they submit to God and to his commandments.
1 Kings 1:32
