I recently read an explanation by a well known Biblical site to refresh why I once thought Jesus was my Sabbath rest. The two biggest points are covered in the comic. There were a few other verses used that were taken out of context to support this stance. What I go back to every time that I hear "Jesus is my Sabbath now" is: so you don't get tired? You don't get wore out from your job that you need more time off? You don't long for a break from your day to day life to just relax?

If you say "no", I will assume you are a liar. I have yet to meet anyone that hasn't talked about looking forward to just sitting around the house for their vacation time, or looking forward to the weekend because they are cancelling all their plans at some point. These are Christian people who claim Jesus is their rest. If He is their rest, why are they longing for other rest?

Because Jesus didn't change anyone physically. The whole point of the Sabbath, from Creation, is to take a break from everything once a week. God did it. What makes us think we are smarter or more capable than God that we don't have to take a break once a week? He created our bodies. He knows their limits and how to help us function better. Part of that knowledge He passed down to us is rest times. Once a week. Stop what you are working on. Don't go cut the lawn. Don't turn a non-job-related work day into a work-for-yourself day. Rest. Visit friends and family. Visit the elderly, the poor, the fatherless, or the widows. Have a Bible study. But don't work. Let your body, mind and soul rest.

Hebrews 4:9-10 (WEB) There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.

God didn't "rest in Jesus", He stopped working.

Remember, a thankful attitude opens windows of heaven. Spiritual blessings fall freely onto us through those openings into eternity. Moreover, as we look up with a grateful heart, we get glimpses of Glory through those windows. We cannot yet live in heaven, but we can experience foretastes of our ultimate home. Such samples of heavenly fare revive our hope. Thankfulness opens us up to these experiences, which then provide further reasons to be grateful. Thus, our path becomes an upward spiral; ever increasing in gladness. Thankfulness is not some magic formula; it is a language of Love, which enables us to communicate intimately with Elohiym. A thankful mindset does not entail a denial or reality with its plethora of problems. Instead, it rejoices in HaShem, your Saviour, in the midst of trials and tribulations. YHVH is our refuge and strength, an ever-Present and well-proved help in trouble.

All of Heaven rejoices and all of Hell rages when a single sinner repents.

The enemies of God have no real friends, even among themselves. Any hint of repentance, and they will turn on you like cannibals.
