Genesis 15:2
For Abraham, the world after he would be gone was of more importance than the world he saw every day. He lived in the world and carefully considered the past, but his hopes and preparations were for the future.
After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: "Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great."
Genesis 15:1
After the battle with the five kings, God told Abram "Don't be afraid." Why afterwards and not before? Life's trials are sometimes like lifting weights. You only get stronger if the weight gets heavier.
