READINGS FOR OMER COUNT – DAY 27

Behold, I am about to fulfill the affirmative precept of the counting of the Omer, as it is written in the Torah:

“And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the Shabbath, from the day that ye brought the Omer of the wave-offering, seven complete weeks they shall be; until the morrow of the seventh Shabbath shall ye number fifty days.”

Blessed art Thou YHWH, our Elohym, King of the universe, who hast set us apart by Thy commandments and hast given us command concerning the counting of the Omer.

This is the twenty-seventh day, making three weeks and six days of the Omer.

May the All Merciful restore the service of the Temple to its place. May it be Thy will, YHWH our Elohym and Elohym of our fathers, that the Temple be speedily rebuilt in our days, and grant our portion in Thy Torah. And there we will serve Thee with awe, as in the days of old and as in ancient years.

May Elohym be favorable unto us and bless us. That Thy way may be known upon the earth, Thy salvation among all nations. Let the peoples give thanks unto Thee, Elohym; let all the peoples give thanks unto Thee. Let the nations rejoice and exult: for Thou wilt judge the peoples with equity and lead the nations upon the earth. Let the peoples give thanks unto Thee, Elohym; let all the peoples give thanks unto Thee. The earth hath yielded her increase: Elohym, even our Elohym, shall bless us. Elohym shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.

READINGS: TEHILLAH 74

O Elohim, why do You forever reject us? Why does Your displeasure smoke Against the sheep of Your pasture?

Remember Your congregation. You did purchase of old, The tribe of Your inheritance. You did redeem, This Mount Tsiyon where You have dwelt.

Lift up Your steps to the endless ruins; The enemy has done all evil in the set-apart place.

Your adversaries have roared In the midst of Your appointments; They have set up their own signs as signs.

It seems as if one had lifted up Axes among the thick trees.

And now all its carved work, They have broken down with axe and hammer.

They have set fire to Your set-apart place, They have profaned the dwelling place of Your Name to the ground.

They said in their hearts, “Let us suppress them altogether.” They burned all the Appointment Places of Ěl in the land.

We do not see our signs, There is no longer a prophet, Nor any among us who knows how long.

O Elohim, how long would the adversary reproach? Would the enemy despise Your Name forever?

Why do You hold back Your hand, even Your right hand? From the midst of Your bosom – end it!

For Elohim is my King from of old, Working deliverance in the midst of the earth.

You divided the sea by Your might; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters.

You broke the heads of Liwiathan in pieces, You made him food for the people Living in the wilderness.

You did cleave open the fountain and the flood, You did dry up mighty rivers.

The day is Yours, the night is Yours too, You have established the light and the sun.

You have set all the borders of the earth, You have made summer and winter.

Remember this: the enemy has reproached YHWH, And a foolish people has despised Your Name.

Do not give the being of Your turtledove to the wild beast! Do not forget the life of Your afflicted ones forever.

Look to the covenant, For the dark places of the earth are filled With haunts of violence.

Let not the crushed one return ashamed! Let the poor and needy praise Your Name.

Arise, O Elohim, plead Your own cause, Remember how the foolish man reproaches You daily.

Do not forget the voice of Your enemies, The uproar of those rising up against You increases continually.

READINGS: TEHILLAH 75

We shall give thanks to You, O Elohim, we shall give thanks! And Your Name is near! Your wonders shall be declared!

“When I seize the appointed time, It is I who judge in uprightness.

“The earth and all its inhabitants are melted; It is I who set its columns firm. Selah.

“I said to the boasters, ‘Do not boast,’ And to the wrong, ‘Do not lift up the horn.

“Do not lift up your horn on high (You speak with a stiff neck).’”

For exaltations are neither from the east, Nor from the west nor from the wilderness.

But Elohim is the Judge – He puts down one, And exalts another.

For a cup is in the hand of YHWH, And the wine shall foam; It is filled with a mixture, And He pours it out. All the wrong of the earth drink, Draining it to the dregs.

But I, I declare forever, I sing praises to the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ.

“And all the horns of the wrong I cut off; The horns of the righteous are lifted up.”

READINGS: MISHLE 18:1-12

The separatist seeks his own desire; He breaks out against all sound wisdom.

A fool does not delight in understanding, But in uncovering his own heart.

When a wrong one comes, scorn comes too. And with shame comes reproach.

The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; The fountain of wisdom is a flowing stream.

It is not excellent to show partiality to the wrong, Or to turn aside the righteous in judgment.

A fool’s lips enter into strife, And his mouth calls for blows.

A fool’s mouth is his ruin, And his lips are the snare of his life.

The words of a slanderer are like delicacies, And they go down into the inner parts of the heart.

Also, he who is slack in his work Is a brother of a master destroyer.

The Name of YHWH is a strong tower; The righteous run into it and are safe.

The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own imagination.

Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before esteem is humility.

READINGS: AVOTH 4:1-3

Ben Zoma said, who is wise? He who learns from all men; as it is said, from all my teachers I have gotten understanding. Who is mighty? He who subdues his passions; as it is said, he that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that ruleth over his spirit than he that taketh a city. Who is rich? He who rejoices in his portion; as it is said, when thou eatest the labor of thine hands, happy art thou, and it shall be well with thee: happy art thou in this world, and it shall be well with thee in the world to come. Who is worthy of honor? He who respects his fellow-men; as it is said, for them that honor Me I will honor, and they that despise Me shall be held in contempt.

Ben Azzay said, run to do even a slight precept, and flee from transgression; for one mitzvah draws another mitzvah in its train, and one sin, another sin; for the reward of a mitzvah is a mitzvah, and the wages of sin is sin.

He used to say, despise not any man, and carp not at any thing; for there is not a man that has not his hour, and there is not a thing that has not its place.

Thought for Today: Friday May 16

It is so unfortunate when believers cannot get along or even refuse to have anything to do with one another. Not only does this harm our witness to an unbelieving world, but it turns us away from YHVH’s priorities for us. Shortly before Yeshua’s death on the cross, He prayed for unity among those who would come to believe in Him. When the world sees believers fighting, they wonder if the Gospel is really true. Only satan wins when sincere believers reject one another!

Review Website

I've been considering doing a review website. I've hesitated with that because I know the potential of what people might do. We see reviews done in scripture by Paul who wrote about diotrephes who wanted to be first among the assembly which is taking preeminence which only belongs to Messiah. So there are times when warning the body is in order. I have to weigh in that and other factors to set standards. I don't know when or if I will actually get it implemented. Right now I'm transferring a bunch of domains to another server. I had so many domains on one server I didn't even have room to do backups. But I'm getting that done and the process will take some time so I'm just working on it a little bit every day.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you want to review websites according to their teaching.

If so, that would be quite a feat in my view as it would mean that the person doing the evaluation would not be allowed to project their own views/beliefs on the website being evaluated and at the same time be required to project their own views/beliefs on the website being evaluated. 😫

Being Switzerland while still taking a side. 😖

What criteria do you use to evaluate a site? It can't be doctrines as it differs radically in the community. Unless if you want a very niche review site that ringfences certain sites or if you want to be totally neutral and evaluate a site on a whole set of criteria like a checkbox exercise. But what if you misunderstand one of the doctrines and set the "checkbox" wrong?

Let's take the touchy subject of polygamy as an example. Do you "allow" such sites or not?

This is one of the reasons why I haven't formally launched the TTN Search site as I need to set a baseline of which sites to include; and it has to be an easy exercise as there are thousands of potential sites to include. As example, is simply mentioning Yeshua as Messiah or `Hebrew Roots` adequate to include a site???

He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
Proverbs 29:3 ESV

Even the worst fathers, who encourage their sons to engage in all kinds of sin, are secretly proud of a son who prefers wisdom and godly behavior.

Tzitzitziot!

21 w

I wear tzizitziot with a blue cord when I leave the house because I understand the command to wear them is blanket for men, women and children. However, I cant find depictions of hebrew women or children wearing them in Egyptian art. The one depiction that includes women and children does not have the men wearing them, either. The art with men wearing them interestingly has them wearing 3 tassles per corner (one for each tribe?) Can someone better versed in ancient hebrew please clarify for me if it is gender and age specific, or if it is a blanket command? Thank you!

It's debated. I'd say if you feel called to wear them, you should.

What I found in my investigation 9 years back was that people used ancient carvings which they said were depicting Hebrews and they wore tassels right around all their fringes and not only on the corners. Think along the lines of a summer dress with fringes on the seam...

Mark and I were just talking of gender specific laws in another post- https://social.ttn.place/post/55160&ref=16385

I think I see a pattern when it comes to the laws, but still need feedback whether my observation is correct:

1- If a law prohibits something between two people and the sin is on both of them then the law is only given from the male perspective.

2 - When a law is specific to a person and the burden of breaking it is on themselves then no gender is mentioned in the law.

The tzitzit law could be a tiebreaker in my observation as the law was given to men, but is it a sin not to wear it as that would then mean that my observation still holds water.

On the other hand, so it circumcision. Some want to make female circumcision a requirement, but this law was given to the men.

If we look at the commandment itself:

“Speak to the children of Israel and tell them to make for themselves fringes (tzitzit) on the corners of their garments throughout their generations... and you shall look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD…” — Numbers 15:38–39

Key Hebrew phrasing:
“דַּבֵּר אֶל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל” – "Speak to the sons of Israel"

This wording (בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל) has traditionally been interpreted to refer specifically to men.

So in my view, it comes down to personal interpretation of the verse.
