Tradition doesn’t just stop. It must BE STOPPED.
And it can only be stopped by us within ourselves. And only IF we choose to move away from it.

Our ancestors kindled a strange fire like Nadab and Abihu…but unlike those errant priests, the so-called “church-fathers” set alike all true religion - a fire that burns to this very day. It burns up holiness. It burns up truth. It burns up all that is delicate, fragileand valuable. And it will set alight our whole lives if we let it.

And after the fire has passed and done it’s destroying, we are expected to behold the ashes and rubble and remark, “There is no difference between then and now. It’s the same thing, so I will be happy with the ashes of all that was.”

If not in metaphor we would see the fire raging our way and what it has destroyed in its wake…and we would set out of the way. And if we found ourselves on fire, we would put it out. Would we not?

Our Heavenly Father has sent us pure Water in His word. What better place to run to for relief when we realize we are burning? Though Christianity has boiled off much of that precious life-giving Water, still enough remains…and it always eventually rains.

For your sake and for the sake of your ancestors who were burned alive by the church or forced to convert, for the sake of those yet to come if the world lasts, put the fire out that blazes through generations. Make it end with you. And from here on our give your children water not fire.

Should fans of famous people hold them accountable for their words and actions? Of course they should, but usually don’t. We have become complacent when it comes to expecting famous people to be insincere with the very people who made them famous, but our Creator will hold them accountable. Proverbs 12:22, “Lying lips are detestable to the LORD, but those who deal faithfully are His delight.”

Berean Group

I have been wondering for the past week whether it may be a good idea to create a "Berean Group". The aim is to have a Group where the difficult investigations can be done with members that are active and truly interested to participate.

I am thinking that the Group should have the following rules:

1. Be private, so members have to request to participate. (This will ensure that input is given by members who are dedicated to the cause.)
2. Only members who log in at least once every week can request to join. (This will ensure active participation.)
3. All subjects are open for discussion. (This will ensure that we re-investigate our core doctrines as well.)
4. At least one person HAS to take the opposite stance for the debate. (A member can request to be that person, or a random person will be appointed.)
5. Scriptural answers are only allowed as a formal response. Historic or scientific evidence can only be used to support the Scripture.

1. Do you think this is a good idea?
2. Would you be interested to participate in the Group?

#bereans #suggestion

This is a terrible idea. (Please state below why you believe so.)
Brilliant idea, but I don't have the time or knowledge to participate.
Brilliant idea and I would participate from time to time
Brilliant idea and I would definitely want to participate.

My choice isn't listed: "Might be a great idea, but I would have to wait and see."
You have a pretty nice thing going on here. It is full of a variety of diverse believers. Do you think such a venture as you propose might invite excessive division?

How did I ever misread this?

I was always had the mental picture that only the priests were allowed to sacrifice at the Tent of Meeting. (I don't know whether this is true for the Temple service, but I'll look into that.)

But reading Leviticus 1 this morning it stood out to me that the man bringing the sacrifice has to slaughter the animal and cut it apart. The priests then place the meat on the altar. If the #sacrifice is a pigeon then the #priest does everything.

Is this how you understand it as well as this is news to me and I have read these passages many times in my live and never "saw" this?

This is and has always been so, in both the Mishkan (Tabernacle) and the Hekal (Temple). Certain sacrifices must be brought by a kohain (priest), but many or most can optionally be slain by the offerer with oversight by a kohain. A few sacrifices MUST be slain by the offerer personally.
To make a sacrifice lawfully, the offerer must be a member of the people of Yisrael and in a properly cleansed state. Yet, even uncleansed gentiles could make a sacrifice through the kohanim as intermediaries, though they were not allowed into the Temple precincts to witness it. This is all according to Torah law.
If anyone wishes to learn Torah law in detail, both the rabbinical version of 613 and those commands not listed specifically by the rabbis, I recommend our recent series on this which can be found on the YouTube channel of Sabbath Keepers Fellowship. It goes through the entire yearly cycle of Torah portions, week by week, listing and briefly expounding on every command. The series is presently new, having just recently been completed, and is still raw and unedited, but all available to view. Soon, we hope to have the edited version complete, which will omit the post-lesson comments and questions by others and will be much shorter.
For those who claim or wish to be truly "Torah-Observant," learning what all Torah law is becomes rather important, don't you think?

Yes, Rhy Bezuidenhout , now that you pointed it out "he" seems to refer to the one bringing the burnt offering. Whenever the priest is reffered to, it says "the priest" clearly. Good eye!

Thought for Today: Tuesday June 25
The better we know YHVH’s Word, the more clearly, we will know His will. That means your sense of vision as you share your faith with others is the reflection of the heart of YHVH Elohiym.

TS2009 Be still, and know that I am Elohim; I am exalted among nations, I am exalted in the earth!

Sometimes, the best blessing is in the still of things. Like @ 4 am, before people start their cars to go to work. Or in a close neighbor being gone for several days. Yah is in the stillness. He is inviting you to commune with Him. Stillness is an extra blessing for those of us who have adhd...stillness of the mind is rare for us! An extended time to relax from a busy mind, give thanks, and really feel His presence does wonders for the soul!

So very true.

I assume it is "that" neighbour that is away for a bit. Enjoy the peace. ?

The book of the Covenant:

Exo 24:7 BSB Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people, who replied, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.”

So all the contents of Exodus chapters 20-23 amount to the Book of the Covenant. To be His people, these are the minimum statutes we must keep. There are more detailed laws later on how to keep these first few, but the Ten Commandments were just the opening act to this Covenant at Sinai.

I was just thinking on that this morning as I finished with Exodus. I asked a similar question some months ago as to which books/chapters is the Book of the Covenant that is refered to. The general accepted answer was that the Book of the Covenant = the first five books (Torah) and some of the other books in the Old Testament.

BUT it later became clear to me that all these writings weren't included in the Book of the Covenant.

Yes, they all have bearing, just like the New Testament, to explain what the Covenant laws are, but it isn't part of the Covenant agreement.

I now hold that Exodus 20-23 is the actual content that got read before the people and not most of the Old Testament.

The Hebrew text of Joshua 2:15 says Rahab let the spies down from her window with a rope because her house was built into the city wall, but the Septuagint just says she let them down from her window. Curious.

Since Rahab was using her roof as a place to dry flax, she probably had a rope/pulley system to lift the flax from the fields outside up to her roof. This is why she was able to lower the spies without help.
