You shall not be afraid of them but you shall remember what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt, the great trials that your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, by which the LORD your God brought you out. So will the LORD your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid.
Deuteronomy 7:18-19 ESV

Miracles aren’t just to convince unbelievers or to relieve someone from suffering. They are often done so that both the faithful and the unbeliever will know God’s character.

One thing that pops up from time to time is that we have the OT in Hebrew and the NT in Greek and that is by God's design. Essentially, trying to solidify that anything associated with anything before Jesus/Yeshua is all done away with. That's the old way. Part of this mindset will also suggest that no one around Yeshua's time spoke Hebrew. It was only used in religious settings, but it wasn't used day to day. Again, trying to solidify a passing of the "old ways".

However, we see Yeshua speaking in Hebrew several times through the Gospels. We see the disciples and other people interacting with Him using a Hebrew term: Rabbi. Paul is spoken to from Heaven in Hebrew and he also speaks to a group in Jerusalem in Hebrew. Revelation has several words in Hebrew as well.

There is also Hebrew chiastic structure throughout the New Testament.

I believe I have written about it before, but a very helpful teaching that helped me break the mindset of "old ways" vs "new ways", was https://www.wildbranch.org/tea....chings/hebrew-greek- .

I can't say anything about the rest of their teachings. I haven't gone through the whole site, but this teaching is very good and one that explains why so many in the church can read something that states "XYZ" plain as day yet will read it as "ABC".

The Bible was written by Hebrew people, who spoke and wrote in a Hebrew way. While, we don't have to know Hebrew to have a relationship with the Father, it is beneficial to study to be able to dig in deeper into the words of the Bible.

A word we hear often is “consensus” it sounds official but according to the Cambridge Dictionary it is defined this way. “a generally accepted opinion; wide agreement:” An opinion does not need to be proven, it simply needs to sound good, but what happens when it is wrong? Exodus 23:2, “You shall not follow the crowd in wrongdoing. When you testify in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd.”

“This Is The Way”… catchy saying isnt it? We are here to follow The Way but how do we know The Way from other paths? We were given Instructions. The Torah is our Map. And Yeshua is our guide.

Before Him we had no Instruction but vague ideas of a trip were were to take but hadn’t started walking yet. And others had the instructions but could not know where they were located to begin walking in the right direction.

Christianity says you don’t need the Instructions. Just follow “Jesus”. But Yeshua isn’t physically here with us, and He left long ago, so following Him requires a Road He walked and a Map He drew, and the notation He added to get us started, “You Are Here!”

Thought for Today: Monday August 11

The Bible’s account about Hezekiah gives us an idea for problem solving: “Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it. And Hezekiah went up to the house of Adonai, and spread it before Adonai. Then Hezekiah prayed before Adonai” (2 Kings 19:14-15). Instead of turning to YHVH as the last resort. Follow Hezekiah’s formula, turn to YHVH first with your problems, for only He is capable of handling them in a way that will be in your best interest – and according to His perfect will.

Cannabis Retail Certification course

Question

I've taken the Cannabis Retail Certification program. It authorizes me to work and sell Cannabis in a licensed retail store in Manitoba, Canada where it is legal. Although Cannabis is controversial, I don't think that it violates Torah. Thoughts?

cannabis has been found in digs of ancient egypt.
so it wasn't an unknown in those days in that region.
which makes it interesting that (so far as i know) there's no mention of cannabis in scriptures.
i was looking for anything around tobacco at the time, didn't see anything about that either.
there is one mention in eze 8:17

- 17“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see this? Is it not enough for the house of Judah to commit the abominations they are practicing here, that they must also fill the land with violence and continually provoke Me to anger? Look, they are even putting the branch to their nose! -

now this could be a (far too) primitive way of smoking, were it not that expressions around the nostrils tend to imply anger.
the flaring of the nose indicating such.
and immediately preceding this it's about the men worshipping the sun to the east.

so it looks to be in the same category as alcohol.
one can consume without problems, and one can consume with problems.

on drugs in general, it's like drinking a bottle of beer or a bottle of tequila. with or without problems?
so for cannabis or cocaine, with or without problems?
who's your master?
anything which produces physical addiction can master you.
cannabis is not physically addictive. (alcohol is...)
anybody who is subsceptible to physical and/or psychological addiction should stay away from all drugs, alcohol and paracetamol and depression drugs included.
for the record, i think any drug which required processing (and anything requiring illegal actions, including buying) is a nono, i don't know of any that is not physically addictive.

i'd say your problem is going to be what do you do with a client who is obviously suffering from his usage.
does the store have a policy to cater for this situation?
or is it only about the money?
your conscience is on the line here, you need to figure it out.

speaking as an ex south african and a dutchie, the issue has caught my attention before...
where we're left to our own judgements for lack of instruction, let's be more merciful to each other.
were it so important, would there not have been instructions?
it's not what goes in, it's what comes out.
now that was instructed, albeit on a different issue.
(body is temple people, so you don't eat any processed foods or consume pharma drugs do you? and yeah, i know, there will be some of you doing right. good for you, your situation allows it.)
until such time as one dies to oneself, nothing one does is good enough, or everything one does is not good enough.

now this post is a good candidate for moderation...

It looks like President Trump is looking into making cannabis a less serious drug, from Schedule 1 to Schedule 3.

Keep in mind that I am only certified to work in a cannabis store. I have not yet worked in one.

Although the Bible does not mention cannabis, many scholars and theologians believe that “kaneh bosem” (קְנֵה-בֹשׂם) is today’s cannabis. Kaneh Bosem translate from Hebrew to “aromatic cane” in English and to “kannabis” in Greek. Kaneh bosem is part of the anointing oil described in Exodus 30:23 and it was a popular ingredient for perfume in Egypt. In the rest od the Middle East, in Old Testament times, kaneh bosem was used for various other purposes – including medicine. BUT – there will always be arguments between scholars about “cannabis” and “kaneh bosem” --- there is no way that is can be proved that cannabis and kaneh bosem is the same but it is possible.
