Biblically speaking, cities are not considered an inheritance in the same sense as farm and pasture land. City property can produce income, but can't produce life from its substance. The Maacathites and Geshurites lived to the northeast of Israel, scattered within and on the frontiers of Manasseh. They remained distinct peoples at least through the reign of David who fought wars against both kingdoms. After being subjugated by David, they were either completely absorbed by Israel or by Assyria after his death.
