Remember, the Bible reminds us that our days are like grass. For a brief time, we flourish, but soon we wither and die. Yet, the minutes of our lives, can be flecked with the gold of eternity. Instead of wasting them – as we usually do – Elohim exhorts us to redeem the time. But our lives are also immoral. Elohim created us different from other creatures. He made us in His Own Image, a living soul. Do not let anyone tell you that we are simply a higher species of animal. If you believe that, you will begin to act like one. No! You are far greater!
Matthew 16:13-20 is chock full of controversial bits. Son of Man, Peter the Rock, Gates of Hell, keys to the kingdom, binding and loosing, etc. Did Jesus declare Peter to be the first pope? Or is there more to it? There is so much here to misunderstand if you don't approach the passage thoughtfully.
