Thought for Today: Monday May 05
Science has confirmed what the Bible taught centuries ago. There is a close relationship between our minds and bodies. Guilt, fear, jealousy, bitterness, futility, escapism – these and a host of other problems are spiritual ills, brought about by the disease of sin… BUT our Moshiach came into our lives, He removes every guilt and takes away our fears, He gives us love for others and a new purpose in life. His joy and peace neutralise sin’s poison – and that promotes emotional and physical health. That does not mean that our problems will vanish, but, like a spring of pure water, YHVH’s peace in our hearts brings cleaning and refreshment to our minds and bodies.
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Matthew 4:1 ESV
One of the two Yom Kippur goats was driven into the wilderness “for Azazel”. The meaning of Azazel is disputed, but the most common belief is that this was the name of a desert-dwelling demon. Here, the ultimate atonement for the people of Israel takes himself into the wilderness to be confronted and tempted by the ultimate demon.
