For if you refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country,
#exodus 10:4 #bo
Pharaoh thought poorly of the Hebrews but also feared that their growing numbers would overwhelm Egypt. Once again, God gave Pharaoh more of what he already believed he had, but in the form of a plague of locusts: a lowly horde that overwhelmed Egypt. See Exodus 10:4-6.
Interesting how that works, huh?
I've covered in a few comics about the account in Acts 15. I wanted to do a breakdown to show more of what those commentaries are talking about.
As we can see from the account, the context of what is being spoken about is the restoration of Israel. This isn't a restoration to a change, but a restoration to what it once was. The instructions/laws given to the new believers for them to follow are from the same Law that was given to Israel that Amos talks about them not following.
Then, as I've pointed out in the Torah 4 Churchies series, the last command that was given that is often left out when speaking of Acts 15: they will hear Moses every Sabbath. For those that aren't aware, every year since around the time of Ezra/Nehemiah, every Sabbath they read part of the first 5 books of the Bible and the Prophets. Study it out. Learn it. Memorize it. And most importantly, apply it. We see Yeshua/Jesus partaking of this tradition in Luke 4.
With these things in mind, we can see that the context of this chapter isn't saying Gentiles only have to follow these few things, but that any new believer will eventually learn it all, through weekly study. They just gave them some things to start out with.

Something I wrote in 2019, where there was controversy over which month was the first month - much like this year is projected to be.
