A parallelism in Exodus 21:12-17 connects murder with the battery of a parent and connects kidnapping with the cursing of a parent. God takes "Honor your father and mother" very seriously.

- A - V12-14 – Murder and manslaughter
--- B - V15 – Battery of a parent
- A - V16 – Kidnapping
--- B - V17 – Mortal cursing of a parent

Verse 15 applies to attempted patricide/matricide, not just physical abuse, and verse 17 applies to cursing with deadly intent, not to just bad mouthing or wishing ill against someone.

As with all other capital crimes, there must be two witnesses in order to convict the accused.

Have you ever made your own candles from rendered beef tallow?
Tallow candles are so cute in a mason jar, but they are also great to have on hand for emergencies.
Making a DIY candle from regular rendered beef fat is not that hard and results in a simple jar candle that burns beautifully!

Thought for Today Tuesday February 06

When you become a believer, you come to a place -- the Kingdom of Elohiym. When you come to Yeshua Moshiach, you come to a Person -- the Redeemer and Saviour of the world.

SHALOM!

Here is your question for Yom Shlyshy found in today's Torah portion in Shemoth 22:5-27:

What is the judgment for one who sacrifices to anyone but YHWH?
