One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
Proverbs 12:26 ESV

You don't have to tell people how to behave for them to learn from you. We all tend to adopt the behaviors of the people around us, for good or ill. This is incentive to watch your own behavior as well as to surround yourself with others who behave themselves well.

Proverbs 25:21, “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.” Iran is confirming that the president of Iran died in a helicopter crash. A time of mourning in Iran for some and a time of celebration for others among the Iranian people. Accusations have already been made against very different groups for the cause of the crash. Was it an accident, an act of war or retaliation or was it the breath of the Creator that caused the crash? We may never know for certain. The reality is there are many people that the man known as “The Butcher Of Tehran” had tortured and killed over the many years of his life and he alone will answer to our Creator for his actions. We pray for the people if Iran, that they will find a leader who is honest, just and will treat the Iranian people with dignity and respect.

All the earth...

This phrase is used rather often in the Bible. I noticed it for the first time in Gen. 41:57 this morning.

"And all countries came to #egypt to Joseph to buy #grain, because the #famine was severe over all earth."

This reminded me of #noah's flood that also covered all the #earth. So, how severe was this drought? Was it over all the earth or just localized?

I then wonder, if it was only localized then what do we make of all the other Scripture that talks about all the earth like:

1. Noah's flood
2. Yeshua saying that the Gospel needs to be spread to all the earth before His return.
3. Paul saying that the Gospel has been spread across #alltheearth...
4. The reign of the Anti-christ.

What is your understanding in this? Should we use the same interpretation in all these instances or are some merely speaking figuratively?

I think the translators used the grandest interpretation of the ancient meanings. Although, I do believe the flood was global, because all cultures have a flood story and geologic evidence, even on mt everest. I think most of the interpretations mean the "known" or civilized, roman world.

Yes, my understanding is that the then known ancient world is who Paul & Yeshua were referring to. The "land" would be a better translation.

When we look at the flood story for example, we can conclude that the flood was global and not geographic because of similar flood stories shared in various cultures however, if we believe in the flood narrative then we must conclude that the nations came from Noah’s sons, and thus those descendants held on to the story. The nations can mean the tribes, and other figuritive terms like, trees or seas can refer to people too. The nations are also termed, ethnos and the world can refer to the kosmos. Thoughts for now.
