13 Sh’moth – Day 3
Sh’moth 2:11-25
And in those days it came to be, when Mosheh was grown, that he went out to his brothers and looked at their burdens. And he saw a Mitsrian striking a Hebrew, one of his brothers.
So he turned this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he struck the Mitsrian and hid him in the sand.
And he went out the second day and saw two Hebrew men fighting, and he said to the one who did the wrong, “Why do you strike your neighbor?”
And he said, “Who made you a head and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Mitsrian?” And Mosheh feared and said, “Truly, the matter is known!”
And Pharaoh heard of this matter, and he sought to kill Mosheh. But Mosheh fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Miḏyan. And he sat down by a well.
And the kohen of Miḏyan had seven daughters. And they came and drew water, and they filled the troughs to water their father’s flock, but the shepherds came and drove them away. Then Mosheh stood up and came to their rescue, and watered their flock.
And they came to Re‛u’ěl their father, and he said, “How is it that you have come so soon today?”
And they said, “A Mitsrian rescued us from the hand of the shepherds, and he also drew enough water for us and watered the flock.”
And he said to his daughters, “And where is he? Why did you leave the man? Call him and let him eat bread.”
And Mosheh agreed to dwell with the man, and he gave Tsipporah his daughter to Mosheh.
And she bore him a son, and he called his name Gěreshom, for he said, “I have become a sojourner in a foreign land.”
And it came to be after these many days that the king of Mitsrayim died. And the children of Yisra’ěl groaned because of the slavery, and they cried out. And their cry came up to Elohim because of the slavery.
And Elohim heard their groaning, and Elohim remembered His covenant with Aḇraham, with Yitsḥaq, and with Ya‛aqoḇ.
And Elohim looked on the children of Yisra’ěl, and Elohim knew!

Tehillah 82 – Day 3 (Yom Shlishy)
Elohim stands in the congregation of Ěl; He judges in the midst of the elohim.
How long would you judge perversely, And show partiality to the wrong? Selah.
Give judgment to the poor and fatherless, Do right to the afflicted and needy.
Rescue the poor and needy; Deliver them from the hand of the wrong.
They do not know, nor do they understand, They walk about in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.
I, I said, “You are elohim, And all of you are sons of the Most High.
“But as men you die, And fall as one of the heads.”
Arise, O Elohim, judge the earth, For You shall possess all the nations.
Parents--even bad ones--have lived longer than you and have more life experience. They can be terrible people who make one bad decision after another....and still have some good advice for you.

Then Moses turned to YHWH and said, “O Lord, why have you done evil to this people? Why did you ever send me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has done evil to this people, and you have not delivered your people at all.”
#exodus 5:22-23
God's perspective is greater than ours, and he moves in his own time. When Moses obeyed God, things got much worse for the Hebrews before they got better. Faithful obedience to God and his Torah requires great #faith.
Therefore thus says YHWH, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: “Jacob shall no more be ashamed, no more shall his face grow pale. For when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in his midst, they will sanctify my name; they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and will stand in awe of the God of Israel. And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding, and those who murmur will accept instruction.”
Isaiah 29:22-24
God judges, then rescues his people so they learn to sanctify his name and fear him, and so that they gain understanding. Discipline makes the stubborn teachable.
The ancients discovered the Bible was written to be interpreted. They discovered layers of understanding and came up with an acronym PRDS, which is often pronounced PaRDeS, a play on the word for paradise.
In this understanding, scripture is interpreted in four levels:
Peshat means plain or literal
Remez means hints or allegories
Derash means comparative or analagous
Sod means "mystery, like yet to be revealed"
The way this is applied is the plain or literal meaning of a passage is always true (if it can be true). This is where one starts to form doctrines, on the plain, literal, and simple meaning of the text. Then as you navigate through the levels, the plain is always true.
For example, adultery is always literal even though it's applied to Israel and Judah as an analogy. God never really married Israel and never really divorced her. The church is prepared like a bride for Christ, but we're not literally going to marry our adopted brother.
Understanding the Tanakh aka the Old Testament was written like this, expected to be read and applied like this, and this is how the Apostles wrote the New Testament can really open up your bible studies! Shalom! More like this at the link.
