Cast from upon you all your transgressions
Original Hebrew Scripture from Ezeiel 18
"Cast from upon you all your transgressions, which ye have transgressed in them, and make you a heart new, and a spirit new; and why will ye die?"
I also will choose harsh treatment for them and bring their fears upon them, because when I called, no one answered, when I spoke, they did not listen; but they did what was evil in my eyes and chose that in which I did not delight.
Isaiah 66:4 ESV
God will magnify the sins of the rebellious, like Pharaoh. He does this in part by giving his Law, but “when I spoke, they did not listen.” The Law then becomes a witness against our sins. It exposes them and condemns us accordingly.
The pagans make sacrifices to appease the hunger or blood lust of their petulant gods, but that’s not how YHWH’s sacrificial system works. YHWH wants sacrifice as worship from a sincere and humble heart, and he doesn’t want sacrifice from anyone who thinks they are doing it to earn his favor nor the blood of animals because he’s angry with men. Even Yeshua’s blood holds no power to save the proud and unrepentant sinner.
Isaiah 66:1-5
