Thanks to Tiffany for the generous donation of ten floral arrangements to our hall for Sukkot. Here’s just one of them. It was a wonderful blessing enjoyed by all!

But the serpent was shrewder than any animal of the field that Adonai Elohim made. So it said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from all the trees of the garden’?”
Genesis 3:1 TLV

The serpent (Satan) was the catalyst of Adam and Eve's disobedience and expulsion from the Garden, yet Adam was solely responsible. Similarly, King Nebuchadnezzar was the catalyst of Judah's disobedience (see Isaiah 14) and expulsion from the land, yet King Jehoiachin was solely responsible.

If only Eve or only the people of Judah had sinned, but Adam and Jehoiachin had remained faithful, then perhaps there would have been no fall.

He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD.
Proverbs 18:22 ESV

Like so much of Proverbs, this verse must be understood in the light of the whole of Scripture. The Proverbs are full of warnings against the wrong kinds of women, and chapter 31 describes the perfect woman. He who finds a wife closer to the high end of the scale is most certainly blessed. He who finds a wife closer to the low end of the scale will also find poverty, sickness, and heartbreak.

What do you think of tithing?

5 w
Question

I have a friend who studied many hours and believes that tithing is no longer valid for us today. I personally believe that it is a mute issue. I'll explain why.

Every ministry needs regular financial support of some sort. Getting rid of tithes and offerings does not eliminate the need for regular financial support. All that would happen is that a different method of funding would take its place, just for the sake of not calling it "tithing". What do you think?

All the offerings required in the Torah are still applicable today, except the levitical tithe. There's no place where The Most High said that Ministries are supposed to be supported financially by Yashar'el unless it's the levitical priesthood.

Three thoughts just came up:

1. How does the findings fit in with Matt. 5:17 “Don’t think that I have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete. 18 Yes indeed! I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud or a stroke will pass from the Torah — not until everything that must happen has happened.

2. Where are we instructed that the church building has replaced the Temple?

3. We need to confirm what "valid" means in this instance. Can't a law be undertaken or has it been done away with? Like Joe has eluded to, the tithe to the Temple can't be undertaken, but the other two tithes can still be done. We might choose not to do so, but it hasn't become undoable nor been done away with.

The same study method to show that tithing is no longer "valid" can be used to prove that any command has been done away with. BUT that comes back to point 1.

If we in any way believe that Yeshua has taught against the Torah then according to Deut 13 we have to reject Him as a false prophet. In that case, simply because the masses say that they believe His teachings against the Torah is true doesn't then suddenly make it true. I therefore have to take Matt. 5 for what it says and none of the law has been done away with as heaven and earth still exists in its previous forms.

A. The Levitical Tithe (The First Tithe) - Numbers 18:21, 24
B. The Festival Tithe (The Second Tithe) - Deuteronomy 14:22-26
C. The Poor Tithe (In the Third and Sixth Years) - Deuteronomy 14:28-29

As example, there is no instruction to explicitly say that the temple tithe now has to go to a church.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't love our neighbour nor support a cause we feel we want to. I'm saying that the strict adherence of that one tithe (not all 3) can't be kept, but we should still do the others which we can.

A thought that just came up is: where do we draw a line between which laws can be kept and which can't?

Also, who determines which version of a law is the one we have to accept after the fact?

Modern-Christians take is as far as: "if Paul said it then it is Gospel, whether it is against Torah or not."

We could then step back and say that if Yeshua said it and it is against Torah then it is the new law.

Or we can go back to the first mention of the law... So must the Passover meat be fried in fire or boiled according to the second instruction or boiled over fire; as per the 3rd mention of that law?

BIBLE STUDY --- THE SAVIOUR

WATER OF LIFE

From John 4:4-42

On the way to Galilee, Yeshua and His disciples passed through Samaria. It was about noon when they came to the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph, near the village of Sychar. The journey was long and tiring so Yeshua was glad to sit down by Jacob’s well to rest. The disciples went into town to buy food to eat. While they were gone, a woman came from the village to get some water at the well. [May I have a drink of water?] Yeshua asked. The woman was surprised. She was a Samaritan and Jews usually had nothing to do with the Samaritans. [Isn’t it strange for a Jew to ask a Samaritan woman for water?] she asked. [Not if you knew who I am,] Yeshua replied. [If you did, you would ask Me for living water.] [But where would You get this living water?] the woman wondered. [You have no waterpot and this is a deep well. Are You greater than Jacob, our ancestor, who gave us this well and drank from it himself, as did his children and his cattle?] Yeshua answered her, [Every person who drinks this water will get thirsty again. But the water I give will always satisfy his thirst. My living water becomes a spring, flowing forever in his life.] [Please give me some of that water,] the woman said. [Then I won’t have to come to this well every day.] Yeshua changed the conversation so that He could show her who He was. [Tell your husband to come here,] He suggested. [But I don’t have a husband,] the woman answered. [You are certainly right,] Yeshua told her. [You have had five husbands, but the man you now live with is not your husband.] The woman was surprised to hear Yeshua say that. [I can see now that You are a prophet,] she said. [If You are, tell me why the Samaritans claim that Mount Gerizim is the right place to worship, while the Jews say that Jerusalem is.] [Believe what I am about to tell you,] said Yeshua. [The time is coming when people will not worship in either place, for the place will not be important. But you Samaritans will learn that it is a Jew who will bring you salvation. The time has already come for true believers to include Ruach HaKodesh and the Word of YHVH in their worship, as YHVH expects.] [I know that the Moshiach, YHVH’s Son, is coming,] the woman said. [When He comes, He will tell us all about these things.] [You are speaking to the Moshiach now,] Yeshua told her. At that moment, the disciples came back from the village with the food. They were surprised to see Yeshua talking to a Samaritan woman, but no one asked, [What do You want?] or, [Why are You talking to her?] The woman left her waterpot by the well and hurried back into the village. [Come out to the well!] she urged. [There is a man who knows everything I have done. Can this be the Moshiach?] When the people of the village heard that, they hurried out to see Him. In the meantime, the disciples urged Yeshua to eat some lunch. But Yeshua refused. [I already have food,] He told them, [although you do not know about it.] [Where did He get it?] they wondered. Then Yeshua told them about His food. [Doing YHVH’s will gives Me strength, just as food does. Now you may think that it is still four months until the harvest season. But if you will open your eyes, you will see fields that are ripe to harvest now, fields of souls, ready to harvest for YHVH. Those who reap this harvest will receive wages that will last forever, for they will bring the harvest of souls into the storehouses of heaven. In that place, both harvester and harvested will rejoice together forever. This harvest proves the old saying, ‘One sows, another harvests.’ You are going to gather something for which you never worked. Others have done the work; you will get the results.] Many of the Samaritans who came from the village believed in Yeshua because He knew everything the woman had done. When they arrived at the well, they begged Him to stay with them. For two days He stayed to talk. Many people believed in Yeshua, not because of the woman’s testimony, but because of His. [We believe now because of what He said, rather than because of what you said,] they told the woman. [He is certainly YHVH’s Son, the Moshiach.]

COMMENTARY

TWO MOUNTAINS AND JACOB’S WELL

When Yeshua sat beside the well in Sychar and talked to a Samaritan woman, He looked over a valley rich in Israel’s history. To the north rose the two mountains of Ebal and Gerizim. After conquering the land under Joshua’s leadership, the Israelites read the law from their heights. And it was here too that the Israelites forgot that law. When the kingdom of David was divided, it was on Mount Gerizim that the people of the northern kingdom built an altar to take the place of the temple in Jerusalem. In the valley between the two mountains is the ancient city of Shechem. It lies on the site where Abraham, when he first entered the Promised Land, built an altar to Adonai. Tradition maintains that the well Yeshua sat beside in Sychar was originally Jacob’s. When Jacob returned from Haran, he bought land in the valley and set up camp. On this site he dug a well. The same well can be visited today. The water is still clear and pure, ready for thirsty travellers.

BIBLE STUDY --- THE SAVIOUR

THE LOYAL FOLLOWER

From John 3:22-36

After the visit of Nicodemus, Yeshua left Jerusalem with His disciples. He stayed for some time in Judea, where His disciples baptized those who came to Yeshua. John was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, where there was much water. As yet, he had not been put into prison. Someone got into a discussion with John’s disciples about purification and suggested that Yeshua’ baptism was better than John’s. Of course, John’s disciples wanted to talk this over with him. [Do you remember that Man who was with you by the Jordan River, the One you said was the Moshiach?] they began. [He is baptizing now and people are going to Him instead of you.] [He is doing what YHVH wants Him to do,] John answered. [Didn’t you hear me say that I am not the Moshiach? I am here to prepare others to receive Him. Shouldn’t the bride go to the bridegroom instead of a friend? Then the bridegroom’s friend should rejoice with the bridegroom. That’s why I rejoice to see Him succeed, because He is the bridegroom, and I am merely His friend.] [You will see Yeshua become greater while I become less,] John continued. [Since He came from heaven, He is greater than anyone on earth. We are just men, so how can we know more than what we have learned here on earth? But He has seen and heard things beyond this earth and has told us about them. Yet, many do not believe Him. Of course, those who do believe Him are saying to the world that YHVH tells the truth. They show that YHVH’s Son is telling what YHVH says, for YHVH’s Spirit is upon Him completely.] [YHVH loves His Son and has given Him everything. Those who believe in YHVH’s Son have a life that never ends. Those who do not believe in Him will never live with Him in heaven, but will suffer under YHVH’s anger forever.]

HOMEWARD TOWARD GALILEE

From John 4:1-3

Before long, the Pharisees learned that Yeshua’ disciples baptized more people than John and his disciples. Yeshua did not want this to become a problem, so He left Judea and travelled home toward Galilee.

YHVH’S MESSENGER IN PRISON

From Luke 3:19, 20

When John the Baptist boldly condemned Herod Antipas for marrying his brother’s wife, Herodias, Herod became angry and hurt and had John thrown into prison. Thus, Herod added an even greater sin to his already long list.

COMMENTARY

HEROD’S KINGDOM

Herod was still a young man when his father, Antipater, made him governor of Galilee, He established an intelligent, effective government. The Romans rewarded him by giving Herod more land to rule in the area of Judea. But this area was in a state of political turmoil. The last of the Hasmoneans, the Jewish royal family, wanted to keep control of Jerusalem and fought the appointment of a new Roman ruler. Although Caesar had proclaimed Herod king of the Jews, Herod had to wage war to take what had been granted to him. After Herod and his army succeeded in taking Jerusalem by force, he killed all remaining members of the old royal family to eliminate any threat in the future. Then, by choosing his friends carefully, Herod was able to increase his power. He continued to win the favour of the Roman rulers, and expanded the borders of his kingdom. But Herod’s kingdom did not survive beyond his lifetime. After his death, his three sons quarrelled over his will, and went to Caesar Augustus for a settlement. The Roman emperor divided Herod’s kingdom into three parts and gave one part to each son.

5 w

Shalom aleichem! Silver Trumpet Ministry will be meet again this coming Shabbat (Saturday) at the home of Hein & Gerda Zentgraf in Henley on Klip from 09:30. We have ended the Torah study cycle and will start with a video presentation of the book of Revelation, examining it verse by verse. As the meeting is interactive, everyone present will have an opportunity to read verses from Revelation, while finding references in other parts of Scripture. The session will be limited to two (2) hours, after which we will address any questions. The assembly will end with a hearty meal – see below for details.

For those outside the Vaal Triangle, we are doing remote login through The Torah Network, a website similar to fakebook, but strictly aimed at those who observe Torah. We send out the link at 09:30 on Shabbat via our Telegram group, YAH’s Festivals, or upon request. Anyone can login to The Torah Network; it is free and only requires people to register once: (https://social.ttn.place/).

We meet and greet at 09:30, where coffee and tea are provided. However, we request that every family brings a dish to share – contact my wife, Gerda, on 0739346804 for the menu. At 09:45 we blow the shofar, after which we joyfully praise YAH with edifying music. The teaching starts at 10:00, with a short break halfway through, to stretch the legs. Please note that only food according to Scripture is used, therefore no pork, shellfish or any artificial products, such as margarine or similar products, will be accepted. We request to be judicious about special diets, especially gluten intolerance and diabetes. Feel free to contact us on Telegram 0837745609 or Whatsapp 0846743400 for further information.
